It is grown mainly as an ornamental houseplant, with vibrant leaves and interesting foliage in green, white, silver, purple, and variegated colors. It blooms sporadically year-round. Its blooms are blue, pink, purple, and lavender. It can be grown as an annual outdoors in hanging baskets, borders, and mixed planters.
