Switch Grass forms compact, narrow, upright clumps. The foliage emerges blue-green and quickly turns burgundy-red by late spring. Reddish-pink flower panicles hover like clouds over the foliage. Seed heads and foliage turn beige in fall, persisting into winter. Cut to the ground in late winter. This variety is an essential larval host for some butterfly species. Recommended for perennial gardens, rain gardens, and naturalizing.
