Red Anjou was discovered in Oregon as a "sport" on a green anjou tree, so the fruit is identical except for the beautiful dark red color of the skin. Regarded as one of the best European pears, the fruit has a mild sweet taste and is juicy. Best for fresh eating and winter storage. Ripens in late August.
