Switch Grass has vertical clumps of blue-green foliage topped by panicles holding lacy sprays of tiny yellow flowers. Blooms appear like a cloud above the leaves. Seed plumes persist well into winter and foliage turns yellow to beige in fall. This variety is an essential larval host for some butterfly species.
