This specimen tree provides more than one season of interest. Midnight Express® redbud has you covered from spring ’til fall with its fabulous color show. It starts with an impressive number of bright pink, pea-shaped blooms lining each branch in the springtime. From there, it grows large, heart-shaped foliage with dark burgundy coloring that shifts to a dynamic show in summer with emerald green hints. The leaf coloring is the same as or a bit darker than Black Pearl™ redbud. It grows in a more upright manner and fills out faster than Forest Pansy redbud. The most dramatic show is saved for fall when the interior foliage lights up with butterscotch yellow coloring while the exterior leaves remain burgundy and red.
