"Leonard Messel" features masses of star-like flowers, starting with vivid fuchsia buds, and opening to radiant purple. Blooms arrive before the foliage in a display of springtime coloration against a rounded array of gray barked branches. The tree is upright when young, but rounds in form as it ages. Plant in sun for full effect and allow space for it to expand.
