Marigold
Tagetes spp.
Gasper carries 2 species of marigolds – French and African. The French Marigold (Tagetes patula) is a colorful all season bloomer in flowers of orange, yellow and red tones with single, semi or fully double blooms. It works hard for the garden deterring deer and insects -- and it's edible. The African Marigold (Tagetes erecta), actually native to Mexico and Guatemala not Africa, is larger than the French Marigold. It is prized for its large 2 to 5" pom-pom-like blooms in yellow, orange, mahogany, bronze, creamy white, and variegated colorways. Its pungent scent also helps repel pests, but makes it less ideal as an edible.
